Projects & Seminars
Events

D.A.R.E.’s approach to development activities is focused on grassroot initiatives from the communities concerned, with direct involvement of local people during execution. The emphasis is on comprehensive training of target groups and, where appropriate, creation of maintenance and management committees, in order to facilitate appropriation of activities and build the capacity needed to assure maximum impact in the long term. Priority is also given to use of income generating mechanisms which can ensure profits for operators, local economic growth and provision of funds for maintenance, repairs and continued operation. D.A.R.E works with local population, Local Government authorities, State and Federal Government departments, multi-lateral institutions, local & international NGOs and other development partners.

Presently, D.A.R.E. has embarked on carrying out several projects of providing alternative sources of energy to the rural population, especially in the arid States of northern Nigeria, in lieu of the massive use of firewood as the only source of domestic fuel. We lay emphasis on the thermal usage of Solar Energy through deployment of highly efficient Solar Cookers of the “SK-14” and the “Papillon” types. We complement these cookers with one of the hitherto best wood-saving stoves available – the “Save 80” .

We make public presentations on the use of these cookers and we also organise seminars for women’s groups as well as scholl classes and other interested groups.

Recently D.A.R.E’s main european partner and promoter, the NGO “LHL” in Germany, made a public presentation of our activities at the bi-annual Kirchentag of the evengelical church, held in the city of Köln.
